Hi and Welcome! I’m David

     Hey Ya'll! My name is David Cui, but I prefer to go by Boncui. It's a nickname given to me during middle school, where "Bon" translates to 'good' in French: Good Cui. An analogy to myself and my social identity during that time period, adopting it ever since. 

     As a 21 year old Korean American male studying at Washington University in St. Louis, I love arts of all kinds. From musical expression to painting on a canvas, I have explored the entire spectrum; dabbling in just about everything I can get my hands on. Photography, videography, painting, drawing, sculpting, designing, you name it, I've probably done it. I believe my inspiration and passion was passed down from my mother, who was an artist growing up. For me, art is a means to channel emotions that language can't express or describe. It provides me therapeutic value and fills me with a sense of satisfaction that I can't get elsewhere in life. 

      Recently, my artistic expression as developed and matured more towards literature and writing. For the past two years, I have been keeping a journal to write thoughts down and to organize ideas. Overtime, It has accumulated and grown into creative writing, philosophical dives, and whimsical poetry. Due to the evolution, I have decided that some of my writing is worth sharing to the world and because I believe that some of my ideas are controversial. Therefore, I would love to hear more from society through this blog in the discussion section. 

      My writing comes from personal experiences or from a creative headspace. I want for my writing to be vivid and emotional to engage with the audience to ideally forge a connection. I seek for my audience to read my work and crack a smile or to think deeply about philosophical questions, shifting their perspective toward reality. I hope this blog will inspire others to have a deeper love for literature and creative expression. Bon Apetit:)
